Friday Five: What We Spent Money On or didn’t.

It’s that time again—let’s take a look at how the dollars shook out this week. Spoiler: restraint was the name of the game (mostly).

1. Homemade Garlic Herb Focaccia

Instead of running to the store for garlic bread (a risky expedition where one loaf turns into a cart full), I whipped up my own garlic herb focaccia. Tasty, thrifty, and no accidental “kitchen sink” purchases.

2. Hamburger at $3.49/lb

We did venture into the store for hamburger—but here’s the kicker—I walked out with ONLY hamburger. Not one other thing. That deserves a medal. Or at least bragging rights.

3. A Good Checkup for Mr. Frugalist

You might not think a doctor’s visit belongs on a “money well spent” list, but catching health issues early is far cheaper than ignoring them. Plus, peace of mind? Priceless.

4. A Quiet Week at Home

We stayed close to home, not for any particular reason—just because. The kids are back in school, the days have turned peaceful, and we even treated ourselves to a new British murder mystery. (Cozy crime + tea = happiness.)

5. A Small Aldi Run

A quick trip to Aldi’s for a short list of wants, not needs. And miracle of miracles—we stuck to the list. That doesn’t always happen, so yes, I’m counting it as a victory.
