Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken Wings
Cost: About $2.50 per pound · Feeds 4
Why I Love It:
A simple weeknight dinner that feels take-out fancy but costs under ten bucks. Sweet, sticky, and a little tangy — everything wings should be.
Ingredients:
- 2–3 lb chicken wings (split)
- 1 cup pineapple juice (or crushed pineapple with juice)
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 4 Tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 2 Tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp grated ginger (or ¼ tsp ground)
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch + 1 Tbsp water for thickening
- Sesame seeds & scallions for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Bake the wings at 400 °F for 35- 45 minutes until crispy. (if you have bigger wings leave them in longer)
- Meanwhile, make the sauce: In a small pan combine pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Simmer 5 minutes. Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken.
- Toss the wings in the glaze and return to the oven for another 10 minutes to set that sticky coating.
- Serve with rice or roasted veggies.
